I’ve come across many gamblers that think having a slots machine strategy is a bit silly, after all, isn’t it a game that’s just supposed to be fun? Honestly, slot machines have only gotten more immersive and fun as years go by, so I understand where they’re coming from.

Slots Machine Strategy

But I wholeheartedly believe that you should approach any casino game with some sort of strategy in mind. If you’re like me, then you’ll agree that sometimes strategizing is the fun part! Especially when you’re dealing with a game where luck plays such a big role overall.

Today, I’ll share my favorite Slot machine strategy so you can have fun and – hopefully – take some money home too!

The $100 Slots Machine Strategy: Step-by-Step Guide

This is a very interesting slot machine strategy that I found years ago online and it’s fantastic. I’ve organized it into very simple steps so you can try it out the next time you hit the slots. I call it the $100 Slot Machine Strategy.

Step 1: Divide Your Budget

First, you need to divide your budget. If you have $100, then divide it into five separate $20 sessions. You’ll play each session on a different slot machine (this is important!)

Step 2: Set Stop Loss and Cash-Out Goal

I recommend that you set no less than $1 per spin. Each machine has a Balance (you start with $20).
If your balance on any machine increases to $25 or more, cash out immediately. Don’t look back!
You’ll also need a Stop Loss. If your balance decreases to $5, cash out and move to the next machine.

Step 3: Play Each Session

Now it’s time to start spinning. Here’s what you do:
Machine 1: Insert $20 and begin betting at least $1 per spin. Follow the cash-out or stop-loss rule.
Now, you do this with Machine 2, 3, 4 and 5. Repeat the process until you’ve used up your $100.

Step 4: Assess Your Outcome

Now it’s time to assess the outcome. Hopefully you’ve managed to hit on one or more machines and increase your overall payout, otherwise then luck just wasn’t on your side, which sadly can happen when playing slots.

The 20 Spins Slots Machine Strategy

This one goes deeper into RTP and Variance evaluation, which is a core concept you’d do well to master early on. We discussed it in our How to Win Slots piece, so feel free to read that too when you’re done here!

Step 1: Set Your Spin Limit

First you need to set a limit of spins per machine, the strategy is called 20 spins because I like to limit myself to 20 spins per machine. This is your test phase to gauge the machine’s performance.

Step 2: Evaluate the Results

As you spin, pay attention to how the machine is performing. If the machine isn’t engaging or showing promise within those 20 spins, move on to the next one. Either the RTP is there today, or it’s not, no need to overthink it.

Step 3: Establish your Cash-Out Point

You can decide what a good cash-out point is, depending on the machine’s pay table. I’d say that hitting a decent win, such as $8 or more on a $1 spin is precisely the kind of results you’d want to see. If you get it, either cash out or move to another machine.

Step 4: Limit Your Play

As with any other strategy, don’t overcommit. If you get a decent hit, take it and run with it. Don’t overcommit on the number of spins either, if you keep jumping from machine to machine, you’ll end up losing your bankroll in record time.

Slot Machine Strategy: The Paroli System

This is the opposite of the Martingale system, which you’ve probably heard of if you play other casino games. Basically, you double your bet when you win to take advantage of winning streaks and minimize losses during losing streaks.

It’s better for risk-adverse people, and a great starting system for beginners that want to practice their discipline at the machines.

Let’s say that you have $100, here’s how you’d use it on the slots:

  1. Start Small: Begin with a small bet, say $1.
  2. Double After Wins: If you win, double your next bet to $2. If you win again, double it to $4. You keep doubling after each win until you hit three consecutive wins.
  3. Reset After Three Wins or a Loss: After three wins, or if you lose at any point, go back to your original $1 bet.

With $100, you could comfortably ride out a series of losses while aiming to hit those three-win streaks. If you’re lucky, you could turn small wins into bigger profits while keeping your losses manageable, so you’re covered either way. As with any other system, all you have to do is make sure you’re not betting any money you can’t afford to lose.

Slots Machine Strategy: Progressive Betting

This system is all about gradually increasing or decreasing your bets based on whether you’re winning or losing. It adapts very well to the game’s ebb and flow, allowing you to capitalize on winning streaks and protect your bankroll during losing streaks.

Here’s how you’d use it with $100 on slot machines:

  1. Start with a manageable, small bet —let’s say $1.
  2. Increase After Wins: Each time you win, you slightly increase your bet. For example, after winning on a $1 bet, you might increase to $2. Win again? Maybe move to $3.
  3. Reset After Losses: If you lose, drop your bet back down. So, if you lose on a $3 bet, go back to $1.

This system works because it’s a balanced version of Martingale and Paroli: you take advantage of hot streaks and protect yourself from losses. Sure, it requires discipline but it’s fun and potentially profitable if you’re somewhat lucky!

The Martingale System

This is a bit of a risky system, regardless of the game you’re playing. This betting strategy doubles your bet every time you lose, with the idea that eventually, when you win, you’ll recover all your losses and make a profit equal to your original bet. It’s more common in roulette, but it’s not unheard of in slot machines.

Here’s how you’d use it with $100 on slot machines:

  1. Start Small: Begin with a small bet ($1)
  2. Double After Losses: If you lose, double your next bet to $2. If you lose again, double it to $4, and so on.
  3. Win and Reset: When you finally win, you go back to your original $1 bet.

With $100, you’d be able to handle up to six losses in a row (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 = $63). On the seventh bet, you’d be betting $64, which would take you over $100 if you lose. As you can see, this is not the type of system that keeps you playing for extended periods of time, which is what slot machines excel at.

Losing streaks will drain your bankroll fast, so I wouldn’t really recommend it. Half of the allure behind slot machines comes from relaxing and enjoying the show while you (almost) mindlessly spin the afternoon away.

The Flat Betting System

This is another great option for beginners, since you bet the same amount every time, regardless of whether you win or lose. It’s a way to manage your bankroll and enjoy the game without taking big risks.

Here’s how you’d use it with $100 on slot machines:

  1. Decide Your Bet Size: Choose a bet size that’s comfortable for you. If you want to make your $100 last, you might start with $1 or $2 per spin.
  2. Stick to It: No matter if you’re on a winning streak or a losing streak, you keep betting the same amount every spin.
  3. Stay Frosty: Consistency is the name of the game. Since you keep betting the same amount, you don’t really risk getting big losses, you can relax and enjoy the machine’s lights and sounds and enjoy the process.

This is how many people choose to play the game, and while it’s not really my cup of tea, I do understand its appeal. Slot machines are all about immersing yourself in the game and enjoying the lights, music and atmosphere on each spin. It’s relaxing and can numb you out after a long day at work, but generally speaking, it stops when you run out of cash. If you’re comfortable with that, then by all means, it’s your dime!

FAQs on Slot Machine Strategy

What are the best strategies for playing slot machines?

The most effective strategies involve choosing high RTP (Return to Player) slots, managing your bankroll wisely, and making use of bonuses offered by casinos. It’s important to select slots that align with your budget and playing style. Games with higher RTPs offer better long-term payouts.

How do I choose the best slot machine to play?

Look for slot machines that offer the best combination of RTP, volatility, and bonus features. Slots with higher RTPs tend to pay out more over time. Additionally, playing slots in demo mode first can help you understand the game better without risking real money.

How do online slots differ from land-based slots in terms of strategy?

Online slots often offer higher RTP and a wider variety of games. The strategy remains similar, but online play provides more opportunities to use bonuses and track performance.

Betting more can potentially increase the payout amount but does not necessarily increase the likelihood of winning. Some slot games do offer better jackpot opportunities or bonus features when you make a max bet, so it’s essential to read the game rules.

Are slot machines rigged?

No, slot machines are not rigged. They use RNGs (Random Number Generators) to ensure each spin is random and independent of the previous spins. Casinos are regulated to ensure fairness and cannot manipulate slot payouts.

Does using a casino card affect my chances of winning?

Using a casino card does not affect your chances of winning. These cards are used to track your spending and reward you with bonuses but have no impact on the game’s outcome.

Is there a way to predict when a slot machine will hit?

It’s impossible to predict when a slot machine will hit. Slot outcomes are determined by RNGs, making each spin independent and unrelated to previous or future spins.
